The Vital Chair wins Brightlands Impact Award 2026

The winning team was announced during the Brightlands Impact Festival on 2 July. The winning UM/MUMC+ project will receive €20,000 and support to bring their innovation closer to the market.

Malnutrition and loss of muscle strength are not always recognised in good time within the healthcare system. As a result, patients may develop unnecessary health problems, and appropriate support is sometimes provided too late.

The Vital Chair is an innovative tool that helps healthcare professionals assess patients’ nutritional and physical condition more quickly, easily and reliably. Work is also underway on a digital application designed to support the collected data and present it clearly.

The aim is to improve the quality of care, enable healthcare professionals to work more efficiently, and develop a solution that can be widely applied across different healthcare settings.
