PVB Limburg: closer cooperation requires concrete action

Limburg, 16 September 2026 – The Limburg Programme for the Sustainability of Business Parks (PVB) is achieving significant results. Twenty-seven Limburg municipalities are now collaborating on 41 sustainability projects, spread across 67 business parks. At 22 business parks, organisational structures have now been demonstrably strengthened or established. This puts Limburg at the forefront nationally in making business parks more sustainable.

Business parks play a key role in the energy and climate transition. PVB Limburg supports local authorities, businesses and park management teams in addressing shared challenges relating to energy and climate adaptation. At the annual ‘Samen Vooruit’ event at Villa Flora in Venlo, the focus was on the next step: turning the collaboration that has been built up into concrete action.

Strong collaboration as a foundation
Since the programme began, discussions have been held with all 31 municipalities in Limburg. Of these, 27 wished to participate actively. Together, 41 projects have been selected across 67 business parks in North, Central and South Limburg. The approach links collaboration between businesses and local authorities with specific energy and climate projects. Now that the organisational framework has taken shape in an increasing number of areas, the focus is shifting to the implementation of projects.

Solutions for grid congestion
Energy projects have now been launched at several business parks. PVB Limburg is working on nine promising energy projects that offer technical, financial and organisational prospects. The greatest opportunities currently lie in collective charging infrastructure, which enables businesses to make smarter use of the available grid capacity together. Energy hubs appear to be feasible only under specific circumstances: a sound business case, technical feasibility, funding and legal frameworks are decisive factors.

Sharing knowledge as a catalyst
PVB Limburg’s centre of knowledge and expertise shares experiences, knowledge and success stories. Local authorities, businesses and other partners can apply these ‘lessons learnt’ directly to new sustainability initiatives. In addition to collaboration and knowledge, sufficient funding remains essential to actually implement climate measures.

Possible extension offers prospects for the future
At its annual event, PVB Nederland announced that work is underway to ensure the programme’s continuation. This possibility offers the prospect of maintaining the cooperation that has been built up and taking promising projects a step closer to implementation. Both entrepreneurs and local authorities can take the initiative in this regard. The foundations have been laid; now decisive action is needed to capitalise on them.
