Nominate your food hero for the Waarde-Ring 2026

During ‘Our Food Week’, from 3 to 10 October 2026, the Limburg Waarde-Ring award will once again be presented. This award is intended for people who go the extra mile to strengthen the bond between farmers and the public. Someone who is wholeheartedly committed to fair and local food. Limburg’s agriculture and horticulture play an important role in this. Anyone can nominate people for this award. Who would you like to put in the spotlight during Our Food Week?

Limburg connectors

In Limburg, we are presenting the Waarde-Ring for the third time to people who have gone to great lengths to strengthen the bond between farmers and the public. This could be, for example, the owner of a farm shop, a baker who bakes bread using locally grown grain, farmers and market gardeners who open their farms to visitors, or agricultural and nature organisations that organise guided tours and cycle rides. We need your nominations to recognise three exceptional Limburg-based connectors.

Who can you nominate?

This year, nominate someone who meets one or more of the criteria in the list below:

• Demonstrates exceptional commitment to strengthening the bond between farmers, market gardeners, growers, food producers and the public.
• It has the support of people in the local community.
• Is a role model in entrepreneurship/conduct.
• Promotes the values of ‘Our Food Week’: health, sustainability and a good life.
• Manufactures/supplies in Limburg.
• Highlights the origin of products and ingredients from Limburg.
• Actively contributes to raising awareness and providing food education for people of all ages.

The nominee does not have to meet all the criteria, but the more points that apply, the greater the chance of being among the top three.

When selecting the final winners, the selection committee takes into account a balance across the various regions of Limburg and different sectors.

Until 23 September 2026, you can nominate someone for the Limburg Waarde-Ring via the online nomination form. The Waarde-Ring award ceremony will take place on Thursday 8 October, during ‘De Week van Ons Eten’.
