Call for proposals: (KoM) Program & ten Innovation Vouchers

Tailored Knowledge

Status: the call for ‘Knowledge on Demand’ projects is now open.

The Agri & Food and Horticulture & Propagating Materials TKI’s are calling on organisations to submit projects under the ‘Knowledge on Demand’ (KoM) programme. Each year, KoM makes €2.5 million in WR capacity available for this programme, aimed at translating existing knowledge from research and practice into actionable insights for (future) SMEs. There are two calls for proposals per year.

Projects may be submitted by companies, trade associations and educational institutions. The basic principle here is public-private partnership, whereby the government and the business community invest jointly on a 2:1 basis. The public funding consists of capacity provided by Wageningen Research. Partners’ contributions may take the form of either cash or in-kind contributions. There is also scope for collaboration with green educational institutions (higher professional education and senior secondary vocational education). In this case, co-funding may also come from the educational institutions.

Applicants can submit their ideas in advance for advice via kennisopmaat@wur.nl or info@landbouwwatervoedsel.nl. This involves a preliminary assessment of whether an application would be suitable for this programme.

This call for applications is open until 2 November 2026 at 23:59.

Projects must commence as soon as possible after funding has been awarded; the deadline for commencement has been set at 1 February 2027.

Ten innovation grants for practical innovation in horticulture

Ten new projects will receive an Innovation Voucher from TKI Horticulture & Propagation Materials in 2026. These vouchers will enable (smaller) SMEs to collaborate with knowledge institutions to investigate specific, practical research questions. The selected projects demonstrate the breadth of innovation challenges in horticulture: from more sustainable crop protection and circular fertilisation to energy, storage and more efficient utilisation of CO₂.

TKI Horticulture & Propagating Materials introduced the Innovation Vouchers in 2025 to provide better support to smaller businesses with applied research questions. The scheme remains open in 2026 as well. An Innovation Voucher has a maximum value of €5,000 and is intended for research that directly addresses a specific practical issue. A total of €150,000 is available for 2026.

Taken together, the ten successful projects paint a varied picture of the issues that horticultural entrepreneurs wish to tackle.
