During the successful Bedrijvendag Ambassadeursconferentie 2026, the Smart Farming sector guide was officially presented to public and private partners. This guide puts the Dutch ecosystem for innovations in open farming on the international map. You can download the guide for free at the bottom of this page.

Sector guide as a business card

The sector guide, developed by RVO on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provides a clear overview of Dutch innovations, companies and collaborations within the sector. After all, the Netherlands plays an important role in sustainable, efficient and future-oriented agriculture worldwide.

The guide showcases Dutch expertise and innovative technologies. It also highlights important companies, fieldlabs and international collaborations. The guide invites even more international partners to work together on solutions to global agricultural challenges and a sustainable and resilient open cultivation sector.

The guide focuses on the following themes:

  • precise agriculture
  • sustainable water and nutrient management
  • advanced machinery and equipment
  • IoT and smart sensors
  • data-driven cultivation and AI and cloud platforms
  • automation and robotics

Technology solutions for agriculture

The guide was presented during the Agridfood and Agtech theme session at the successful Business Day Ambassador Conference 2026. During that session, experts and entrepreneurs talked about technological solutions for agriculture of today and tomorrow. Practical examples showed how we can work more sustainably, efficiently and successfully, with lower labor costs and less water. International cooperation contributes to future-proof food systems worldwide. Ultimately, this also strengthens the international earning power of Nof ederland.

The theme session was led by Director General Agro of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN), Marten van den Berg, in the presence of ambassadors, consuls general and companies. Annemieke Broesterhuizen presented, on behalf of RVO, the sector guide to Rogier van Tooren, Head of International Financing and Emerging Markets at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (BZ).

Smart Farming Guide 2026

This guide is made possible by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is coordinated by the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO).
